's music pieces that I found most appealing from famous
visual novels(ビジュアルノベル)
, namely
素晴らしき日々 ~不連続存在~(Wonderful Everyday: Diskontinuierliches Dasein),
サクラノ詩-櫻の森の上を舞う-(sakura no uta) and its sequal, sakura no toki, and
ATRI -My Dear Moments.
Unlike other games, visual novels require almost no interactions from player as nearly entire time of game play is spent
on simply reading texts on the screen which are either dialogs or inner thoughts of the characters. Therefore the manufacturers
spent tramendous effort on the script as well as the background music and graphics to make the story more engaging. In this site,
we will dive into the music pieces composed by Fuminori Matsumoto.
Atri is a visual novel developed by Frontwing and Makura, two Japanese visual novel studio in 2020. It presents a Klara and the Sun story in a different scenario, where a robot named Atri gained a heart in literal sense and therefore learned to love, and to protect everything she cherishes. The story is set on a small island isolated from the world because of sea level rise, where Atri was found under the sea by the main character, Ikaruga Natsuki and spent her dearest moments together with Natuski and his friends. More information regarding the background of the story can be found in the Atri's official website.
Sakura no Uta is developed by Makura and released in 2015. The game won the faver of readers globally with its fascinating story and well-designed graphics and audios. It illustrates a story of young artists in a small town named Yumihari, who are creating art in literal and actual sense (lol). The series discusses the essence of art and beauty aiming to promote the unique aesthetics value of the writter, while integrating the theme in the normal life of the young artists who are still in high school.
Sakura no Toki is the sequal of Sakura no Uta. It is also developed by Makura and was released in 2023. The game discloses the untold story both after and before the events in Sakura no Uta. Compared with its predecessor, the game obtained a broader view as the stage is set in a wide range of locations, nevertheless the main stage is still Yumihari. Although the theme is still about the appreciation of art, the story encourages readers to reevaluate the meaning of art in our daily life as well as taking an in-depth look at the the inner world of art geniuses, enabling readers to witness their efforts, struggles and growth.
Wonderful Everyday is developed by KeroQ and was initially released in 2010. Later it was given an international release in 2017 by Frontwing. The story is themed around campus bullying, violence, drugs, myths, sex, religion, Schizophrenia and other dark but realistic sides of human lives. However, it is also a story about love, wishes, philosophy and enlightement. The game is by no means an full interpretation of important life issues and doubts, but serves as a key to the doors of self-reflection. Sometimes having the question is much more important than merely having the answers.
